Dedicated nurse, Lisa K. Williams is an active member of community organizations and founding CEO of Black Nurses Rock, Tyler, Texas. She was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. Graduating in 1988 from John Tyler High School as an honor roll student, she attended Tyler Junior College and received an Associates in Applied Science in Respiratory Care in 2002 and a Vocational Nursing Degree in 2003. She received her bachelor’s in business administration, Texas College, 2006. Lastly, she received her Master’s in Health Education and Promotion, Walden University, 2021.
She is dedicated to the field of nursing. It is her love, representing an incredible learning experience and wonderful journey helping others. Ms Williams has over 30 years of health care experience. Some of the roles she has held in this duration include Certified Nursing Assistant, Assistant Director of Nursing and Mobile Clinical Support Nurse.
Lisa was a recipient of the 2012 Health and Wellness Advocacy Award from Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Lisa is also a recipient of the Helen McNeal Service Award by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. in 2018. She also received the 2018 Torchbearer Award from the NAACP. Ms Williams also received the Clarion Call Award in 2018. She received the Black Nurses Rock National Nurse Leader Award in 2019. Lisa received the Most Innovative and Largest Chapter for BNR in 2020. Lastly, she received the Notable African American Women’s Award in 2020.
Lisa founded Black Nurses Rock (BNR), Tyler, Texas in 2016, and serves as chapter president and CEO. In addition, Ms Williams is also a National Director of Membership for BNR. Lisa Williams leads with a mission to inspire and empower innovative leaders to serve and educate vulnerable communities. Her current desire is to become an entrepreneur as a Nurse Consultant.
She most recently founded Lisa K. Birth Services, which offers services of birth working. These services include birth and postpartum support, educational and consulting.
Lisa is a member of North Star Baptist Church of Tyler, Texas; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; Top Ladies of Distinction, Rose City Chapter; Keep Tyler Beautiful Board; Nami Tyler Board; Francis Shivers Guild #7; Waridi Consistatory #236 Golden Circle; Mellie Arps 195 Heroines of Jericho; National Council of Negro Women; NAACP Tyler Branch #6232: Chairperson for Women in NAACP (W.I.N.); Secretary (former Assistant secretary for 2 years) and Executive Board Member; East Texas Food Bank Board Member; Texas College Alumni Association; Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #55; A. Phillip Randolph Institute; and Bancorp South Corporate Board. She has served as vice president of the Greater East Texas Black Nurses Association, Tyler TX, for 2 years. Ms. Williams has also served as secretary for Top Ladies of Distinction, Eastern Star, and Golden Circle. She is also a past member of the Tyler Advisory Board American Heart Association.
Lisa K. Williams has a son, Antonio, daughter, Celissa, and granddaughter, Caleigh. She lives by the philosophy embodied in that famous quotation: “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
